Advocacy

For our internal advocacy competition, you enter as an individual and perform a plea in mitigation (full training will be given by practising barristers in a workshop), this will be around 10-15 minutes long. The top 8 performers from the day will be put through as 2 teams of 4 for the final round which will be held the following week. This final is a mock trial therefore each finalist will have a different role ranging from opening or closing statements, examination in chief, and cross examination.

We promise the trial will not only be fun but will teach you some very important skills. We also require students to play the role of jurors and defendants.

The training workshop will be held by barristers from Wilberforce Chambers. The winner shall get a mini-pupillage at Wilberforce Chambers.

The representative for the advocacy competition is Georgina Kelly, if you would like to contact her please email her:
